Pilton Cottage – KITCHEN
A beautifully restored bolthole in a peaceful village. Very comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen and a lovely touch with the Bramley products. We enjoyed local walks from the front door, cosy evenings in front of the fire and plenty to see and do within a short car ride.

Amenities

Location

Pilton is a quaint village known for its peaceful ambiance. With no streetlights to disrupt the serene atmosphere, you can enjoy leisurely strolls along the picturesque lanes, admiring the old stone houses nestled away from the roads. If you're up for some outdoor exploration, take a walk down Hitchen Hill from our cottage's front door, and you'll find yourself on Worthy Farm, home to the iconic Glastonbury Festival (ask us for more information!). On pleasant days, you'll encounter fellow dog walkers and nature enthusiasts enjoying the countryside (please remember to stick to the designated paths on the farm as it's a working dairy farm). For more glimpses of the local scenery, check out our Instagram at @piltoncottage.

After undergoing refurbishment for over a year, we're thrilled to announce that our village pub, "The Crown," is now open (since 4th November 2022!) and just a 5 to 10-minute walk from our cottage. Although "Shop Lane" can be a little steep and dark, bring a torch by the fireplace, and you're in for a treat. The Crown is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 12pm to 11pm, and on Sundays till 10pm, with food being served from Thursday to Sunday (check their website, thecrownpilton, for full details). If you're looking to explore more dining options, there are numerous excellent pubs in neighboring villages, most of which are dog-friendly and known for their delicious food. Feel free to ask us for recommendations when you stay, and we'll be happy to suggest at least a dozen favorites!

Pilton Working Mens Club is another noteworthy spot in the village, open to all and offering a taste of the local brews. Along with a selection of good pints, they also serve fantastic home-cooked food. On most weekends, you can catch live bands and events, and Saturday nights often feature the "Emerging Talent Competition" for Glastonbury Festival. It's a vibrant hub of local culture and entertainment, adding to the unique charm of Pilton.

For coffee enthusiasts and cake connoisseurs, The New Room in Pilton is a must-visit. Tucked next to the Methodist chapel, this charming coffee shop offers delectable cakes and an incredible view of the rolling hills along the south side of Worthy Farm. Rain or shine, it's a perfect spot to relax and savor some delightful treats.

In addition to these local gems, Pilton also boasts other attractions such as the Tythe Barn, St. John The Baptist's Church, and Pilton Methodist Church, all worth exploring. If you're keen to venture further afield, the nearby towns of Glastonbury, Wells, Shepton Mallet, and Cheddar offer plenty of country pubs and quaint Somerset spots to discover.

Living between Somerset and London is a unique experience for me. While I work in London, my heart truly belongs to Somerset. Pilton, in particular, holds a special place in my heart. The people in Pilton are wonderful, and the place is full of character and old-world charm. The annual festival, Glastonbury Festival, is a major attraction, but even outside of festival time, Pilton has so much to offer.

One of my favorite activities in Pilton is taking my dog for a walk across Worthy Farm. The picturesque landscape of the farm is simply stunning. The country walks on the outskirts of Pilton, especially around Hitchen Hill, offer breathtaking views and a chance to connect with nature. It's a perfect way to relax and unwind in the serene surroundings of Pilton.

Apart from the natural beauty, Pilton also has some wonderful amenities. The village has a cozy little pub called "The Crown" that recently reopened after a year of refurbishment. It's just a short walk from my place and serves delicious food, making it a perfect spot to socialize with friends and neighbors. Pilton also has a local coffee shop called "The New Room" that offers fantastic cakes and a stunning view of the rolling hills along the south side of Worthy Farm.

In addition to the local attractions, Pilton's location is also a great advantage. It is well-connected to nearby towns and cities like Glastonbury, Wells, Shepton Mallet, and Cheddar, which offer a plethora of country pubs, local Somerset places, and other points of interest to explore. The abundance of charming countryside, historical landmarks, and friendly people make Pilton a truly unique and special place to live and experience the best of Somerset.
